SNMP Monitoring for OpenBase Databases

FAIRVIEW, OKLAHOMA, USA - November 11th, 2004 - GammaStream Technologies, Inc. today announced the first release of AgentEYE, an SNMP agent for monitoring OpenBase databases. Now administrators can closely monitor OpenBase databases using industry standard SNMP management tools.

AgentEYE monitors OpenBase database activity, database size, active connections and keeps statistics on selects, updates, inserts, and deletes per second. AgentEYE also scans message log files and tracks error messages.

"OpenBase SQL has always been one of the most reliable tools in our enterprise," said Michael Sacket, President of GammaStream, "However, monitoring the database activity and statistics is important for gaging the health of your entire system. AgentEYE allows you to monitor all of your databases in one place to ensure normal activity."

"We are very pleased to welcome AgentEYE to the growing number of OpenBase solutions," says Scott Keith, CEO of OpenBase International, "AgentEYE provides serious monitoring tools for tracking statistics."

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

With the invention of TCP/IP and the internet, came the development of large interconnected systems used by thousands of users. In the late 1980's, the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) was proposed as a way to monitor the health of these systems to ensure continuous availability. Today there are a host of tools available for managing networks and the systems that run on them using SNMP.

One such tool for MacOS X, InterMapper from Dartware, uses SNMP to monitor routers, servers, and applications. Combined with AgentEYE, InterMapper now allows you to also monitor OpenBase databases within the context of your overall enterprise.
